In the days since Treb’s passing, one thing has been clear, he was deeply loved, and his impact reached far beyond the walls of any classroom or field. Treb was the kind of student whose bright spirit, kindness, and quick smile made every day a little lighter for the people around him.
He cared deeply for others, giving his time and heart through service clubs and leadership programs. As an Eagle Leader, Treb led with integrity, humor, and a genuine desire to uplift those around him. Teachers and staff remember him not only for his work ethic, but for the way he treated people — with respect, warmth, and a quiet confidence that made others feel seen.
Treb was also an athlete at heart. Whether in the gym or out on the field, he brought passion, determination, and joy to every practice and competition. And on Friday nights, he proudly stood on the sidelines with the Flag Crew, cheering on the Decatur Eagles with all the energy and pride he had. His love for his school, his teammates, and his community was unmistakable.
There are no perfect words for a loss like this. But what remains is love — and a community forever changed by Treb’s life.
The McKinnon family, the White family, and the Sample family continue to be in our thoughts and prayers. May they feel the strength and support of everyone holding them close during this time.
To honor Treb’s legacy and the way he lived — with heart, leadership, and a passion for lifting others — a memorial scholarship is being established in his name. This scholarship will help support local students and ensure that Treb’s spirit continues to inspire future generations.
Gone too soon, but never forgotten.
